Rock Against Violence is driven by the Power of Solace, a volunteer organization that raises funds to benefit Solace Women’s Aid via various events and activities throughout the year.
Power of Solace is a committee of dedicated volunteers that believe they really do have the Power to Change. Bringing together our community through local music and charity events, Power of Solace raises not only much needed funds for Solace Women’s Aid but awareness around this important issue.

Nothing brings people together more than music. Rock Against Violence – presented by Power of Solace, and Solace Women’s Aid flagship event – was born from this very idea. Six years ago, two volunteers were adamant that music could not only unite hundreds of people in the fight against domestic and sexual violence, but could also help raise vital funds for the services Solace Women’s Aid offer. They were right. Since 2011 the event has soared in strength and numbers. For five consecutive years RAV has been held at one of London’s longest standing and well-loved live music venues – The O2 Academy Islington.
This year, continuing to build on the success of Rock Against Violence, Power of Solace have raised £26,000! On Thursday 12th November Rock Against Violence hosted four fantastic bands, The Wild Things, We Used to Make Things, Patch & The Giant and Hunter & the Bear. Funds were raised not only through tickets but a silent auction, raffle, corporate sponsorship and matched giving. These are unrestricted funds for Solace Women’s aid helping to support services such as counselling, childcare and rape crisis, not fully funded by grants.
